Author Guidelines

Historický obzor (Historical Horizon) invites original scholarly contributions in history, historiography, historical research, cultural heritage, and related fields. The journal accepts manuscripts in multiple languages. Submissions must be original works that have not been previously published and are not simultaneously under consideration by another journal or publisher.

Manuscripts should be written in clear academic language and should present a well-defined research topic, objectives or research questions, appropriate sources, and a coherent discussion of the subject. Authors should normally provide a title, author name(s), institutional affiliation(s), abstract, keywords, main text, conclusion, and references. The manuscript should be logically organised with appropriate headings and subheadings where necessary.

Authors must ensure that all sources are accurately cited and that quotations, historical documents, archival materials, tables, figures, photographs, and other borrowed material are properly acknowledged. References should be complete and consistent throughout the manuscript. Authors are encouraged to use relevant primary sources and current scholarly literature wherever appropriate.

Tables, figures, maps, photographs, and other illustrations should be clearly numbered and accompanied by suitable captions and source information. Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted material where such permission is required. Manuscripts should be carefully proofread before submission and should follow consistent formatting throughout.

All submissions must comply with accepted standards of academic integrity. Plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabrication or falsification of information, improper citation, and other forms of academic misconduct are not acceptable. Authors should disclose any relevant conflicts of interest and acknowledge financial or institutional support where applicable. All listed authors must have contributed to the manuscript and approved its final version.

Submitted manuscripts are subject to editorial evaluation and, where applicable, peer review. The editors may request revisions based on editorial or reviewer comments before a final publication decision is made. By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that the work is original, that all necessary permissions have been obtained, and that the submission complies with the journal’s ethical and publication requirements.
